Wedding ceremonies · Shepparton & the Goulburn Valley – Ceremonies that make people feel something

Funny, emotional, lively, romantic – usually a bit of all four. Every ceremony I write is built around the two of you, and delivered so the people you love feel part of it.

The point of it all

How your ceremony should feel

I’m not here to recite a script at you. I’m here to make sure the most important twenty-odd minutes of your day actually feel like the most important twenty-odd minutes of your day.

For the two of you

  • Seen and understood – it sounds like your relationship, not a template.
  • Excited about your ceremony, not nervous about it.
  • Comfortable being yourselves, whether that’s giggly, teary or both.
  • Connected to the people you love most.
  • Confident nothing generic is about to come out of my mouth.

For your guests

  • Included, not spoken at.
  • Let in on your story – the bits that make your friends laugh and your parents tear up.
  • Free to laugh, cry and join in.
  • Like they’ve just witnessed something that genuinely mattered.

My ceremony style

No two ceremonies sound the same

Some couples want their guests in stitches. Some want quiet, goosebump moments. Most want both, in the right places. My job is to find the balance that suits you and write it so it sounds natural out loud.

I’ll weave in the details that make your relationship yours – how you met, the in-jokes, the people who got you here – and find ways to involve your guests that feel easy, not awkward.

A ceremony is something people hear, not read, so I deliver it with a professional PA system and mic. The back row gets every word, and so does your nan.

I also run every ceremony digitally. I read from my iPad (with paper copies as back-up) and fade your music in and out myself, so none of your guests has to play DJ on the day.

Ten guests or a thousand

A smaller wedding isn’t a smaller job

There’s a common idea that fewer guests means less work. For a caterer, fair enough – fewer plates to fill. But my work is something different.

It’s about understanding you, shaping your story and creating a moment that connects the people in the room. None of that shrinks with the guest list. In a small ceremony every word lands, there’s nowhere for a generic line to hide, and the people watching are usually your very closest.

So whether I’m standing in front of ten people or a thousand, you get the same preparation, the same care and the same me.

Your story doesn’t get smaller because the room does.

Every size of celebration

Intimate or enormous

Intimate weddings & elopements

Just the two of you and your witnesses, or a long table of your favourite people. Small ceremonies get the same custom script, the same care and the same full legal service as big ones – it’s all part of The Ceremony. Just want the legals? That’s Legals Only, from $600.

Eloping or going small

Big, lively celebrations

I love a big crowd. A large ceremony needs a celebrant who can hold a room, keep the energy up and make sure the back row feels as included as the front. That’s my happy place.

She took the time to get to know us as a couple and created a ceremony that felt completely authentic and personal to who we are. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

Katie went above and beyond to make sure our three children were included in the ceremony in such a meaningful way… I was constantly messaging her with “what about this?” ideas, and not once did she make me feel like anything was too much.

The ceremony she delivered was the perfect balance of heartfelt, fun and entertaining. She created such a beautiful atmosphere, had everyone laughing and smiling, and most importantly made the couple feel incredibly special.

Questions

The stuff everyone asks

We haven’t set a date yet. Can we still enquire?

Absolutely. Tell me roughly when you’re thinking and I’ll let you know how my calendar looks.

How far ahead should we book?

Most couples book 6–18 months out, and spring and autumn Saturdays go first. Short notice? Ask anyway – just remember the Notice of Intended Marriage needs to be with me at least a month before the wedding.

What legal paperwork is involved?

There’s one key form, the Notice of Intended Marriage. By law it has to be with me at least one month, and no more than 18 months, before your wedding. I’ll walk you through it and check your documents (evidence of your date and place of birth, photo ID, and proof that any previous marriage has ended).

On the day, you’ll sign a declaration that there’s no legal reason you can’t marry, say your legal vows in front of two witnesses aged 18 or over, and sign the certificates. I register your marriage with Births, Deaths and Marriages Victoria within 14 days. You don’t have to chase a thing.

Do we get a marriage certificate on the day?

Yes, you’ll sign a keepsake certificate on the day. It generally can’t be used as official proof of marriage, so for name changes and the like you’ll need the registered certificate from Births, Deaths and Marriages Victoria. I can order it for you for $80, so it’s one less job.

Will you help with our vows?

Yes – vow help is part of The Ceremony. Whether you want a nudge in the right direction or a proper back-and-forth over a few drafts, I’ve got you.

Can our kids and family be part of it?

Please! Kids, grandparents, the friend who introduced you: if they matter to you, we’ll find a way to include them that feels natural rather than staged.

What if it rains?

We can still have a beautiful ceremony – I’ve married couples under umbrellas with big smiles. Talk to your venue about a wet-weather spot, and I’ll adapt the ceremony on the day.

Do you travel?

I’m based in Shepparton and marry couples right across the Goulburn Valley. Travel within the Goulburn Valley is included. Further afield is very doable – I’ll quote travel upfront.

Do you marry all couples?

A big yes! I value love in all its forms, and every couple is welcome with me.

What if we only want the legal part?

That’s what Legals Only is for: the legal words, your legal vows, signing and registration, with no ceremony.

Can’t see yours? Ask me – I reply fast.
