Elopements & intimate weddings · Shepparton & the Goulburn Valley – Small wedding. Full heart.

Just the two of you and your witnesses, or a handful of your favourite people. Keep it to the legal essentials, or have a micro wedding written from scratch and delivered with the same care as a wedding for hundreds.

An elopement isn’t a lesser wedding. If anything, it asks more of a celebrant: with only a few people there, every word lands and there’s nowhere for a generic line to hide.

So your elopement gets the same process as any wedding I do. We talk – properly – about you two. I write a ceremony that sounds like you, help with your vows, and handle every piece of legal paperwork. On the day, I make sure it feels like the big moment it is, whether there are two witnesses or twenty guests.

Why small never means less
Three ways to elope

Just the legals, or something more?

All three are small, and either way you’re legally married by the end. The difference is how much ceremony you want around the legal part.

Micro ceremony

The legals, plus a little love

quoted · from$600

  • Fewer than 10 guests
  • The legal essentials, plus a ring exchange
  • A few words of love, and a thank-you to the people who came
  • Simple and heartfelt, without a full custom-written ceremony
How add-ons work
Micro wedding · part of The Ceremony

A small ceremony, written for you

$1,500

  • A custom-written ceremony that tells your story
  • Help writing your vows, plus rings, readings or rituals if you’d like them
  • Up to about 20 guests, or just your witnesses
  • All legal paperwork, lodged and registered for you
  • Unlimited chats, a keepsake certificate and travel within the Goulburn Valley

Find your best fit

Legals only, a micro ceremony, a micro wedding or a full ceremony? Answer four quick questions and I’ll point you in the right direction.

It’s a guide, not a contract – if you’re somewhere in between, tell me when you enquire and we’ll work it out together.

1. How many people will be there, apart from the two of you?
2. Would you like a ceremony written around your story?
3. Would you like a ring exchange, a few words of love or to thank your guests?
4. Where would you like to get married?
Where to elope

Somewhere that means something

A family property, the garden where you got engaged, a favourite spot by the river, or a venue that does small beautifully. Around Shepparton, Modern Country Estate is a private, boutique estate made for intimate ceremonies, and Olivehouse offers ceremony-only weddings with a cocktail hour to follow.

If you’re thinking about a public space like a park or reserve, check with the land owner or local council about bookings or permits first.

She took the time to get to know us as a couple and created a ceremony that felt completely authentic and personal to who we are. Nothing was ever too much trouble.

Elopement questions

Good to know

Is an elopement a legal marriage?

Yes, as long as the legal requirements are met: your Notice of Intended Marriage lodged in time, two witnesses aged 18 or over, the legal words and vows said in person, and the paperwork signed. I take care of all of it and register your marriage afterwards.

Do we really need witnesses?

You do. Australian law requires two witnesses aged 18 or over to be there with you. Plenty of eloping couples bring two close friends, a parent each, or their photographer and one other person.

Can we elope as a surprise?

You can keep it a surprise from everyone else, but not from each other. You both need to sign the Notice of Intended Marriage at least a month beforehand.

Can we have a party later?

Of course. Lots of couples elope and celebrate with family and friends later. Any later celebration won’t be a legal ceremony (you’ll already be married), but it can be every bit as joyful.

Which one is right for us?

If you’re having your real celebration overseas or later and just need to be legally married, a legals-only elopement ($600) is the simple choice. If you want the moment itself to mean something – your story, your vows, maybe a few people you love – that’s a micro wedding, part of The Ceremony ($1,500).

We want legals only, plus rings or personal vows. Is that possible?

Yes. A ring exchange, personal vows or a few words of welcome can be added to Legals Only – I’ll quote it when you enquire. With a handful of guests, that’s a micro ceremony. Want a ceremony written around your story? That’s a micro wedding.
